This week’s Apex Award featured two outstanding undefeated performances, with Neeraj Bhargav and Andrew Boy both finishing the night without a single loss. Bhargav led the field with a perfect 5–0 record, while Boy matched the achievement with a flawless 4–0 finish.


Maintaining a 100% win rate throughout a league night requires more than simply winning individual matches. Both players demonstrated consistency, focus, and the ability to maintain their level of play across multiple competitive matchups. Their undefeated records reflect strong execution and composure from the opening match through the final round.


With every match carrying its own challenges, Bhargav’s five victories made him one of the night’s most consistent performers, while Boy’s perfect record highlighted his ability to capitalize on his opportunities and remain composed throughout the event. Both players were highly deserving of this week’s Apex Award.


Star Award: Biggest Rating Point Gain

Winner: Zephan Shivam (1160 → 1299) — +139 Rating Points

Zephan Shivam was one of the biggest stories of the night, recording the tournament’s largest rating point increase. Starting from a rating of 1160, Shivam gained an impressive 139 rating points, finishing the event with an ending rating of 1299.


rating increase of this magnitude reflects a night filled with strong results and meaningful victories against competitive opponents. Shivam’s performance demonstrated not only the ability to win matches, but also the confidence and consistency needed to turn those wins into a significant impact on the overall rating.


The combination of his strong results and breakthrough rating gain made Shivam one of the most notable performers of the evening. His +139 point jump earned him the Rising Star Award and highlighted the continued growth of his game under competitive league conditions.


Lion Heart Award: Biggest Upset Win

Winner: Zephan Shivam (1160/1237) vs. Erxi Wu (1557) Rating Deficit: 320 Points


Zephan Shivam added another major achievement to his night by capturing the Lion Heart Award with one of the most significant upsets of the event. Shivam defeated Erxi Wu, a player rated 320 points higher, overcoming a substantial rating disadvantage to


secure the victory.

Upsets of this magnitude require more than a strong technical performance. They demand confidence, discipline, and the ability to stay composed when facing an opponent with a significant rating advantage. Shivam’s victory demonstrated his willingness to compete aggressively against a highly rated opponent while maintaining the focus necessary to close out the match.


The result was especially notable given Shivam’s overall performance throughout the evening. In addition to recording the largest rating gain of the tournament, he also produced one of the night’s most impressive individual victories. His performance on August 12th was a clear demonstration of competitive growth and the ability to rise to the occasion against stronger-rated opposition.
