Apex Award: Best Win/Loss Record

Winners: Tom Fleshman (1898) — 6–0 (100%) Alec Petty (1612) — 6–0 (100%)

This week’s Apex Award was shared by Tom Fleshman and Alec Petty, with both players delivering flawless performances and finishing the evening with perfect 6–0 records.

Fleshman continued to demonstrate the consistency and competitive focus that have made him a strong presence in the Wednesday League.

Winning six matches without a loss requires sustained concentration from the opening match through the final one, and his perfect record reflected his ability to maintain a high level of performance throughout the evening.

Petty matched that achievement with an equally impressive 6–0 finish. Completing six matches undefeated is a significant accomplishment and highlights his ability to remain composed and consistent across a full night of league competition.

With both players recording identical perfect records, Fleshman and Petty earned a well-deserved share of the Apex Award. Their performances set the standard for consistency on the night and demonstrated the level of focus required to remain undefeated through a demanding league schedule.

Rising Star Award: Biggest Rating Point Gain

Winner: Jerry Dawson (764) — +52 Rating Points

Jerry Dawson earned this week’s Rising Star Award after recording the largest rating point gain of the evening, adding an impressive 52 points to his rating.

Starting from a rating of 764, Dawson’s results throughout the night translated into a substantial rating improvement. A gain of this size represents meaningful progress and reflects the impact that strong competitive results can have over the course of a league session.

Dawson’s performance is a great example of how league competition can create opportunities for players to make significant strides in their development. Every strong result contributes not only to the night’s standings, but also to building confidence and momentum for future matches.

With a +52 rating gain, Dawson emerged as one of the evening’s biggest movers and a deserving recipient of the Rising Star Award.

Lion Heart Award: Biggest Upset Win

Winner: Abhinav Sarna (932) vs. Vincent Huang (1052) Rating Difference: 120 Points

Abhinav Sarna captured the Lion Heart Award with one of the evening’s most notable upset victories, defeating Vincent Huang despite facing a 120-point rating disadvantage.

Sarna entered the matchup rated 932, while Huang held a rating of 1052. The 120-point gap made Sarna the underdog on paper, but he was able to overcome the difference

and secure the victory.

The result highlights one of the most exciting aspects of league competition: ratings can provide an indication of competitive level, but they never determine the outcome of a match. Sarna’s victory demonstrated the importance of confidence, focus, and execution

when facing a higher-rated opponent.

By overcoming a 120-point gap, Sarna earned this week’s Lion Heart Award and added one of the evening’s most memorable competitive moments to the October 21st league session.
