Michael Guo, Co-Captain of the UT Table Tennis Team, is officially calling on the Austin Table Tennis Club (ATTC) for an epic draft-style showdown! We are hosting a joint tournament and team fundraiser, and it is time to see who truly rules the tables. Whether you bleed burnt orange or you're an ATTC veteran, players from both clubs will be drafted into mixed teams. Michael wants to know: do you have what it takes to lead your squad to victory?
Here is everything you need to know to get in on the action:
The Essential Details:
Date & Time: Monday, September 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Who: ATTC members and UT Table Tennis Team members. (We might expand to general club members if we need more contenders to fill the brackets!)
Entry Fee: $10 for ATTC members, and $5 for UT members.
The Prize: Aside from ultimate bragging rights, winners will score a Butterfly Table Tennis shirt!

The Format (Every Game Counts!)
This isn't your standard tournament. Michael has put together a format that guarantees non-stop action and high stakes:
The Draft: Players will be divided into teams of 3 via a captain-led draft once the final player list is set.
The Matchup: Each team clash features 5 matches: Singles #1, Singles #2, Doubles, Singles #3, and Singles #4.
Playing Time: Every player must participate in every team match. Each player gets one singles match, and one player per team will play two singles matches (but they must sit out the doubles round). Captains set the lineups and pairings.
The Scoring Twist: Individual matches are Best of 3 games to 11 (win by 2). However, the overall winner is decided by total sets won, not matches! That means even if you lose a match 2-1, you still secure 1 vital point for your squad. Because of this, all 5 matches are played out regardless of the overall score.
Double Trouble: The doubles match is worth double points. For example, a 2-1 doubles score awards 4 points to the winner and 2 points to the loser.
Golden Game Tiebreaker: If teams are tied in points at the end, captains select one champion for a sudden-death game to 11 (no deuce)!
Tournament Structure
The event will feature a single-elimination main bracket. Lose your first match? Don't worry, you aren't going home yet! Teams that drop their first-round matchup will enter a single-elimination consolation bracket. This guarantees that every single team will have the opportunity to play more than one team match.
