Building Confidence: The Impact of ATTC’s Rise & Rally Program

At the Austin Table Tennis Club (ATTC), table tennis is more than just a sport—it’s a powerful activity for connection, empowerment, and fun. That belief is at the core of Rise & Rally, a monthly outreach initiative opening our doors to youth from underserved communities.
As program lead, Lekha Subbaiah explains what this initiative is all about:
"Rise & Rally combines table tennis, mentorship, and bright energy to offer a free, welcoming, and safe space to learn new skills, gain confidence, and build relationships."
Whether a participant is picking up a paddle for the very first time and has natural ability or struggles to play a new game, Rise & Rally creates an environment where young people feel supported, encouraged, and celebrated.
Quality Over Numbers: Celebrating the First Two Events

Launching a new outreach effort always comes with learning opportunities, but the first two events proved that true success isn't measured solely by headcounts—it’s measured by impact.
With the initial sessions welcoming around 10 participants, the intimate group size gave every child undivided attention, deep engagement, and a real connection with the ATTC community.
"The biggest takeaway from our first two events is the power of resilience and teamwork," shares Lekha. "While the program started small, every participant absolutely loved the experience. Our goal is to make sure every kid walks out of here with nothing but pure joy, not just big numbers."
When asked about what she likes most about the program, Lekha says, "The absolute best part has been seeing the instant joy and connection when the kids step onto the tables," Lekha says with a smile. "Seeing every single one of them fall in love with the sport and have a blast during the activity sessions has been incredibly rewarding."
Looking Ahead: Biggest Event Yet on October 24th!
Thanks to the strong foundation built over the first two events, momentum is building rapidly. The program is preparing to welcome around 2 or 3 dozens kids from three different partner youth organizations across the community at the upcoming October 24th event, which will be the biggest Rise & Rally gathering to date.
"We are looking forward to a full house!" says Lekha. "After steadily growing through our first two sessions, seeing three different organizations come together on October 24th is going to be amazing. We can't wait to welcome them all!"
Rise & Rally Needs ATTC Volunteers!
A full house means the program needs the ATTC family to step up! To ensure every child receives personalized guidance, coaching, and an incredible day of fun, the program is seeking 15–20 volunteers for the October 24th event.
Whether you are a seasoned player, a youth mentor, or simply an enthusiastic supporter who wants to give back, your presence and high energy will make a meaningful difference in these kids' lives.
"Because the program is expecting a full house on October 24th, we need a LOT of volunteers to help make it run smoothly," Lekha emphasizes. "ATTC members and supporters can step up right now by signing up to volunteer on our website. Any form of support is much appreciated!"
