Two Fastest Ways To Improve Your Game

1/11/2016

Number #1  Using Long Pips
Using long pips is the fastest way, without any doubt, to improve the result of your game, because people have really limited opportunity to play against long pips style around them. There are two facts can prove this perspective. 1) Long pips is not a popular play style in the world, so it mean people do not often have chance to play against long pips style; 2) The feature of long pips rubber are different from brands to brands, so there are really few players who use same long pips rubbers and it further lowers the opportunity for people to play certain long pips styles.

Number #2  Serve
Improving serve is the second fastest way to improve your game if your USATT rating is under 2400. People would often come to me asking about how to deal with sidespin serve in their match, and they are often confused about the spin serve from their opponents. Directly miss or returning a highball are two main mistakes people often made. Oppositely, receiving is the biggest problem among beginners, and it also shows you that having a good serve means having a lot of advantage in the game.

One of my students, named A, is a left hand player who has a great serve. Although he has a lot of problems such as slow movement, bad forehand and so on. He often defeated players who had better techniques in tournaments, and the main reason is people have trouble to receive his serve and lose many points.

This is about the claim at your website that one of the fastest two ways to improve is to use LongPips.& Serves. I TOTALLY disagree.

1. While serves are important (To quote Waldner :- But for my serves Klampar would have beaten me under 10 three games straight" ..while talking about his run to his first title in 1989 referring to Klampar (who was way over the hill in 1989) as the technically most perfect player ever).. Serves are VERY important but you need to develop proper techniques & tactics that match YOUR playing style FIRST.

2. This brings us to LongPips. Those who know me know that I am the biggest fighter for LongPips and have become a social outcast in the TableTennis CessPool because of that, since my starting the bitter fight against ITTF for passing the Durban Aspect Ratio Regulation of 1998. That said, just asking everyone to switch blindly to LongPips only brings even bigger bad name for LongPips. LongPips is not for everyone. Are you telling me a 10 year kid switch to LongPips (I doubt very much you meant it) ? cLongPips were originally invented for long range defenders but were prostituted later for frictionless pips which I do not support. Anyway, many factors such as age, playing style etc dictate switching to LongPips. Just switching to bLongPips to gain a few rating points by deceiving opponents does not help improve a player’s overall game.
