Masoud Mojtahed - President

Masoud discovered table tennis while taking swimming lessons at private club at the age of 12. After training for a few years he began playing competitively in the youth category at age 14. He has been a member of the Canadian Paralympic national team since 2005. Masoud is one of world’s top Paralympic table tennis players who has achieved many world ranking titles. He is also a great indoor soccer, volleyball and basketball player. He is married and is the proud father of two boys. He is a full-time employee at Intel Corp, managing performance validation team.

Masoud was a board member at ATTA from 2013 to 2015, and he has made impact towards the growth of the club. Also as a CDC (Coaching Development Committee) along with two other CDC members implemented a coaching policy for ATTA for the first time in 2016.

Roderick Medina - Director at Large
I first came to the ATTC when it was still at the Uncle Bob's Self Storage location. I met some great people at that time but I left the club after some non table tennis injuries sidelined my sporting activities. I eventually rediscovered the club at its current location and I have been involved to some extent ever since. I credit TT with helping to keep me healthy and I'd like to share it with as many people as I can. On that note I did research on US table tennis clubs and co-authored a research paper on the topic which led me to open Pong Club in South Austin. I served as ATTC Club Secretary from 2015-2017 and before that I was involved as league director. I also helped lead the way to a lot of technological advancements the club has made over the past several years. The majority of my efforts at ATTC have been geared toward being welcoming to new members, promoting the club, and trying to introduce process efficiency that would help the business side.

By opting for "Director at Large" instead of my prior Secretary role, I am committing to being around to help guide the club toward growth and reaching increasing numbers of people via table tennis. I am not able to be at the club as often as I once was but I will carry out my duties responsibly and I will hold the interests of the club and its members first and foremost. I think most regular members have seen me or my work around the club whether they realized it or not.

For the future I believe the club needs to become a self-sustaining business that can thrive via its activities around the table tennis community and continue to reach out to new players and students without depending so heavily on donations to stay afloat.

Zhiyu "Diane" Liang - Director at Large
I love table tennis and enjoy coming to the club. While working with a busy schedule as a full time pediatrician, I come to the club regularly for practice and training classes while my husband volunteers as ATTC tournament director and empire. Recently, my work commute has largely improved and I will have more time to come to the club.

Based on my desire to contribute and help the club, and under encouragements from a few members in the club, I decided to run for the position of director at large.

My husband and I started coming to the club since 2008 and have seen the best and worst times of the club during that period. I believe I have a deep understanding of what’s best for the club and how to benefit its members.

I would like to hear your feedback and concerns about how to make the club better. And based on those feedback, I will try to find ways help the club achieve its mission and make the club a better place where you can improve your health, sharpen your table tennis skills, have fun and make friends. Thank you.

Jerson Wang - Director at Large
Many of you might not know my name Jerson (Xianyao) Wang, but I bet most of you know me as “Neo’s Dad”. Like my son Neo, I enjoy learning and playing table tennis and love our club.

As a non-profit organization, our club has a mission. This mission should bring our focus to support our youth players and help anyone develop their skills. I believe that all players should have easier and affordable access to coaching according to their preference. It’s critical to have a diversified pool of coaches and different styles of players. As a new member of CDC, I worked with all the CDC members to strength our coaching team through collaboration with HITTA. With the support from many of you, former world champion Wang Hao started to help our kids on the weekend. I can see a bright future for our club.

Our members and players are our essential assets. Financially, I’ll support new steps to get funding from charities, establish company sponsorship, encourage donations and explore other income sources such as facility rental, company events and equipment sales etc. This way, we can limit our membership fee and coaching fees. On the other side, I believe we need our members’ active involvement and volunteering to bring down our cost. To achieve this, we’ll need steps to make our members proud of our club and feel part of the family.
